Starting this month, Kenyan travelers no longer need to obtain visas before visiting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The DRC made the decision to lift visa requirements for Kenyan visitors, in accordance with directives from the President. Additionally, the DRC has reclassified Kenya, shifting it from Category 2 to Category 1 in terms of visa requirements. This change aligns with the regulations of the East African Community, which facilitates the free movement of people among its member states.
In a similar move last month, the government declared visa-free access for its citizens from Indonesia, making it the third country to receive this privilege. This followed a similar decision made for two other countries earlier in the same month. During discussions between the presidents of both countries, the importance of enhancing regional trade and investment through improvements to regional sea, land, and air transport infrastructure was emphasized.
