Over the weekend, unverified reports emerged suggesting that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was rejecting visas for Pakistani residents from specific backgrounds. These reports created concern within the large Pakistani expatriate community in the UAE, one of the largest and most significant expat communities in the country. The Pakistani diaspora has a long history of migration to the UAE, attracted by employment opportunities and an improved quality of life. Rumors, shared by individuals posing as travel consultants, indicated that the Abu Dhabi government had ceased issuing visit visas to residents of cities like Kohat, Abbottabad, Muzaffarabad, Skardu, Larkana, and DG Khan. These reports suggested that the visa issuances were suspended for residents of these areas due to alleged involvement in illegal activities or violations of Emirati rules.
Amidst the growing concern, Pakistani officials in the UAE denied the reports, categorizing them as baseless. They clarified that there was no ban on Pakistani nationals seeking visit visas for the UAE. According to officials, if applicants provide all the necessary documents, they can typically expect to receive their visas within two weeks. It's worth noting that similar reports surfaced last year, prompting responses from UAE officials who also dismissed these claims.
