From September 29th to 4:30 pm on the following Friday, the port recorded an astounding 500,000 passenger visits and over 90,000 vehicle visits, marking a substantial increase of 140 percent and 300 percent, respectively, when compared to the same period in 2019. This surge in travelers highlights the bridge's pivotal role in connecting Zhuhai in Guangdong province with the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao at the estuary of the Pearl River. Notably, on October 2nd, the bridge witnessed a historic milestone with over 14,000 vehicle visits, representing the highest number in a single day. Simultaneously, more than 100,700 passengers entered and exited the mainland via the bridge, marking the highest passenger count in four years. Under these arrangements, eligible cars from Hong Kong and Macao can stay in Guangdong province for up to 30 days per trip and for a total of 180 days per year.
