With immediate effect, Angola's Migration and Foreigners Service has expanded its tourist visa exemption program to include 98 nationalities, in addition to the already eligible visa-exempt countries. Among these eligible nationalities, there are priority groups specified by the government, which include individuals from countries like Brazil, Cape Verde, Mainland China, Portugal, Russia, and the United States. However, the specific implications of this priority status have not been clarified. Under this updated program, citizens from these designated countries can enter Angola without the need for a visa, specifically for tourism purposes. They are permitted to stay for a maximum of 30 days per entry within a 90-day period each year. To gain entry, travelers must present their valid passport, which should have a validity of at least six months beyond their intended stay, along with a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
This represents a significant change from the previous requirement, where these nationals were obliged to apply for a tourist visa before entering Angola. It's important to note that if individuals from these qualifying nationalities plan to submit applications for other types of visas or work permits, they will not be eligible for this exemption. Instead, they must follow the regular visa or work permit application process through the Immigration Service portal or at a consular post. The primary aim of this new regulation is to stimulate and promote local tourism within Angola, thereby encouraging more visitors to explore the country's attractions.
