The Belizean government is actively seeking the support of member states to secure a visa-free travel agreement, allowing its citizens to enter the Schengen Area without the need for visas. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belize, Eamon Courtenay, expressed confidence in the country's progress and hopes that Belize will soon be added to the list of countries whose citizens enjoy visa-free access to the Schengen Area.
Minister Courtenay emphasized that Belize has already fulfilled all the necessary requirements, urging the European Commission to consider easing visa regulations for Belizean citizens. He stated that Belizean officials are engaging directly with the European Commission and various governments to present Belize's case, emphasizing their compliance with the requirements and encouraging the Commission to make a favorable decision. While acknowledging that the process has taken longer than expected, Minister Courtenay reassured Belizean citizens that they should remain patient, as it is only a matter of time before the European Union (EU) makes a decision regarding visa-free travel for Belizeans.
